Quarterly update for supporting our Haitian staff

Happy Spring!
Thank you so much for your support of Poured Out's work in Haiti. Things in Haiti have somehow reached a new level of threat over the last month. Port au Prince is still in a state of emergency with the airport and international shipping port shut down and under gang control. An interim council has been formed to select a new interim prime minister due to Ariel (the previous interim leader) stepping out of power. We are waiting to see if this council is approved by the international community aiding in the proces and how quickly they will select a leader. Violence continues to surge in the capitol but the south where we work has remained safe. The biggest issues we are facing directly are that due to the control of the capitol, no supplies (food, gas, materials) are leaving port and getting transported to the South. This has led to an increase in costs for all of our normal supplies like filter replacements, pvc piping, tools, and transportation needs. However, our staff are striving to work around these and continue to serve their communities with clean water efforts. They just provided some maintenance on an existing waterhouse and are in the process of installing a new WaterHouse in the Madame Pierre community. These projects are even more important now in preventing water-borne illnesses since medical care is less accesssible and water and medications are more expensive. We continue to follow up on all our biofilters in the south and they most recently were able to problem solve a well that was contaminated in order to provide a safer water access for a community. We are so proud of their ongoing work and thinking outside the box in these difficult times.

Year End Review Update

Merry Christmas to you!
Just wanted to drop you a quick report letting you know that we just returned from a trip to Haiti and were able to complete a new Water House with our Haitian staff. They are fully equipped to take on 4 new projects this year and that is largely thanks to your support!
The trip was a great success and we were happy to be able to travel safely to bring supplies and some more training to our staff members.
Please find attached our year end report detailing the ways that our staff have worked towards clean water this year as well as what else is going on at Poured Out! Your donation this year will fund our staff to complete more projects like these in 2024! We can't thank you enough for that support and are excited to see what we can accomplish together in the coming year.

Update on our Water Technician development

Hey there!
First off, I wanted to say thank you to you all for donating towards this project and for those who donated on Giving Tuesday! We were able to qualify for $2,468 worth of matching funds because of you which almost completes our goal for this project! This is really exciting for us because these funds will go towards paying our Haitian staff for the whole 2024 year as well as providing training and development for them.
Our most recent projects are surrounding the grant we were gifted by Grundfos pumps. We will be installing five new Water House projects in Haiti and our staff will be heading all of those up! The training needed to complete these projects includes learning about a new pump that will be installed. It is a submersible Grundfos pump that we have not used before so we are excited to learn together with our staff about how to use these pumps! That training will be happening this month so that by 2024 our staff are fully ready to do these Water House installs!
We also wanted to update you that we are investing time in each of our staff members to be universally trained. We currently use Venel and Junnot mostly for filter installations and Chelo for our Water House maintenance. We have begun the process of training Venel to be fully equipped to do Water Houses and plan to incorporate Junnot as well in 2024 with the added projects we have going on.
Thank you so much again for your support of this crucial element of our organization. We couldn't do our work without our Haitian staff and that means we also couldn't do our work without you!
