Our free Entrepreneurship in African Agribusiness course is reaching a growing community of aspiring and practising entrepreneurs across Africa.
The open online platform has attracted 255 voluntary registrations, with approximately 95% based in Africa and 31 African countries and territories represented. Women account for 41% of registrations, and almost half of registrants are aged 21–29. These figures show encouraging demand for accessible, practical entrepreneurship education.
Alongside the self-paced course, our facilitated online training series began on 7 July 2026, attracting 174 registrations. Weekly live sessions help participants explore entrepreneurship topics, exchange experiences and apply course tools. The series continues until January 2027.
Our pilot at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology (JOOUST), Kenya, highlighted the value of combining online learning with local facilitation. It also reinforced an essential lesson: strong business ideas need direct engagement with customers, market validation and sound financial planning. These findings will help us strengthen delivery with university partners.
A summer survey examining longer-term training outcomes provided further encouragement. Among respondents, 53% reported that the programme helped them start a business, while 71% continued using the learning materials. Among full-course completers responding to the confidence question, 91% rated the programme’s contribution highly. Trainers are also multiplying the benefits by delivering the learning through universities, youth programmes, farmer training and incubation.
To broaden access further, French translation is well underway, and discussions on an Arabic version are advanced.
Thank you for supporting practical entrepreneurial learning and helping us extend its reach. Your generosity supports our work to equip African agripreneurs with the skills and tools to build stronger businesses and contribute to their communities.
