With your generous support, Meseret Humanitarian Organization (MHO) continues its commitment to providing essential services, basic necessities, and emergency assistance—including medical support—to vulnerable populations affected by frequent malaria outbreaks and other disease emergencies in Ethiopia.
Progress During the Reporting Period
During this reporting period, funding under the Supporting Malaria Emergency Response in Ethiopia project remained limited. Despite this constraint, the contributions received enabled MHO to maintain essential humanitarian support and respond to some of the most urgent needs of vulnerable and affected families.
MHO prioritized assistance based on the severity of needs, vulnerability, and urgency, with particular attention to families and individuals facing barriers to accessing timely health services. Available resources were directed toward immediate medical and emergency needs, helping affected households cope with the impacts of malaria and other disease outbreaks.
Monitoring, Accountability, and Results
As part of its project monitoring and evaluation approach, MHO continued to assess beneficiary needs, document assistance provided, and monitor the use of available resources. These processes helped the organization prioritize limited support and ensure that available contributions were directed toward the most pressing needs.
Although the scale of intervention was constrained by limited funding, the assistance provided contributed to strengthening the immediate coping capacity of vulnerable families and supporting access to essential health-related assistance during periods of heightened disease risk.
Challenges and Lessons Learned
The principal challenge during the reporting period was insufficient funding compared with the level of humanitarian and health needs. Malaria outbreaks and other disease emergencies can rapidly increase demand for medical assistance, particularly among vulnerable households with limited financial capacity.
The experience also reinforced the importance of early preparedness, rapid response mechanisms, community-level monitoring, and flexible emergency funding. Timely resources enable MHO to respond more quickly when outbreaks occur and help prevent vulnerable families from being left without essential assistance.
